After receiving her PhD in material science at ETH Zurich (Switzerland) in the group of Prof. Ludwig J. Gauckler in 2012, Dr. Barbara Scherrer spent the following year as a postdoc in the same institute fabricating and testing a demonstrator based on a micro-solid oxide fuel cell and a micro-reformer unit. From 2013 to 2014, she worked at the University of Sydney (Prof. Julie Cairney) in a joint project with ETH Zurich (Prof. Ralph Spolenak) on diffusion in noble metals using atom probe tomography, followed by a short project on development of atom probe for water based materials at ETH Zurich. Since June 2015, she joined the group of Prof. Avner Rothschild investigating hematite thin films for photoelectrolysis.
